Ways To Help

Prepare & deliver a meal

When a volunteer from a host congregation or civic group agrees to provide “a dinner meal” for the shelter it is a shelter critical assignment.  Our families rely on the dinner meal to arrive, prepared and hot at 5:30pm every evening. The meal volunteer purchases the ingredients and cooks the meal at their home, church or other location and delivers it to the shelter.  Oftentimes, salads and dessert is brought for the families.

Volunteer hosting in shelter

Volunteers oftentimes will sign up for a “shift” or “block of time” in the evening or on the weekends to ensure that our program is staffed at all times. All volunteers are Cori'd to ensure the safety of our families, children, volunteers and staff prior to spending time in the shelter. Training is provided to each volunteer and a volunteer manual is available. Volunteer hosting consists of spending time with the MIHN families, talking, supporting, playing with children, listening and giving our families HOPE.

Final bequest to MIHN

MIHN deeply appreciates individuals that think of helping our homeless families with children after they are gone.  Our shelter operates on the generosity of individuals and writing a meaningful gift to MIHN into your “Will” ensures that future needy, homeless families with children will be helped in the northern Worcester county region.   Please remember MIHN in your will.

Road Home Capital Campaign

In April, 2015 MIHN was the fortunate recipient of a large gift that enabled us to purchase a permanent location for our shelter and administrative offices, as well as,  conducting renovation to this property.  A stipulation of the private benefactor was that we run a capital campaign to MATCH the gift that was given to us.  Our identified goal was that we must raise $ 200,000 from the local community to be used to maintain the new house into the future.  As of 7/1/16 we have raised half towards our necessary goal. Please donate to help us get to our goal for homeless families.
